Ryan has faced significant challenges most of his life. He has faced many personal adversities and risen above them every time. Growing up painfully shy and battling significant depression and anxiety until his early 30s, he never imagined that he would reach the point of being able to live a fulfilling, happy, and healthy life. Having first reached out for help from a counselor when he was 18, Ryan has worked with four life-changing therapists throughout his life. He realized the value and power of therapy and putting in full effort as a client. He became a therapist with an interest in returning the favor to the world that helped save and drastically improve his life.
Ryan is a Registered Associate MFT, Lic.# IMF96886, supervised by Suzy Lee, LMFT Lic.# 52675. Ryan began his counseling career in January of 2015.
Ryan is a Gottman Level 2 couples therapist and and trained in EMDR. He also incorporates Relational Life Therapy in his work, helping men overcome seemingly invisible roadblocks handed down to them via childhood trauma, without stripping them of their masculinity. This is really quite powerful stuff. Ryan’s therapeutic focus is helping couples live the types of relationships we all really dream of living, where both partners feel truly fulfilled, connected, and alive.
Ryan earned his BS in Business Management/Marketing from San Jose State University and his MA in Counseling Psychology from Brandman University.
Ryan has over 15 years of experience in the fitness industry, including launching his fitness franchise business over 11 years ago. He built his business from scratch to one of the top successful franchise locations in his franchise system. The struggle began when the Great Recession hit less than a year after he opened his doors, leaving him wondering, "What the heck did I just get myself into?" Through commitment, self-discovery, perseverance, sweat, faith, and following his heart, he made it through the first several years of business - the toughest years of his life. His secret? Show up one more day. And keep showing up until you make it. Never give up. This is the difference between those who claim that nothing good ever comes their way and those who enjoy success. Just because things are difficult to do doesn’t mean we can’t do them.
Ryan loves working out, mountain biking, hiking, paddle boarding, kayaking, playing the drums, watching comedies, traveling, attending Indy Car, NASCAR, and F1 races, and relaxing with his girlfriend Jessica, their two cats, Norman and Charlotte, and their boxer, Brie.
Jessica is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Having worked through their personal and relationship challenges throughout their lives, they enjoy a truly amazing relationship and fulfilling lives together. It certainly helps that they are both MFTs; however, do not let this discourage you. In fact, this proves that relationships are a source of vitality when people integrate healthy behaviors, thoughts, and emotions.
